Amira Abdel-Rahman is currently pursuing her PhD at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Center for Bits and Atoms (CBA). Her research is focused on creating integrated workflows for the design, simulation and fabrication of digital materials.

Before joining MIT, Amira graduated from Harvard Graduate School of Design with a Master in Design Studies (MDes) in Technology, and finished her bachelor’s degree at the American University in Cairo (architecture engineering major, computer science and economics minor).

On a professional level, Amira worked for a year at Autodesk as part of the Generative Design team as a Facade Simulation and Additive Manufacturing Researcher. She also worked at Viacom next as a VR developer. In Egypt, before pursuing her masters degree, Amira worked for a year as a computational designer at Dimensions Designs.
